Summary:This article offers a critical response to Smith and Wood's concept of "the edges" of owner-occupation. While the category remains analytically diffuse, we argue that digital infrastructures – particularly algorithmic profiling under platform capitalism – render this fragmented population newly governable. Through shared exposure to classificatory technologies, disparate housing biographies may be unified by risk rather than rights. This opens possibilities for political recognition rooted not in tenure, but in the experience of algorithmic (mis)recognition.
