| Sumario: | The article reports that publishers could be hit by paper price increases of up to 8% in 2006. Paper suppliers are believed to have pushed for increases in paper prices of between 6% and 8% from September 2005 for non-contractual supply, i.e. where the price has not been agreed in a long-term contract. Publishers are already feeling the effects. Thames & Hudson Inc. production director Neil Palfreyman said paper suppliers had been attempting to renegotiate price increases of between 2% and 3%. Faber production director Nigel Marsh said there was a lot of pressure on bulky newsprint prices, used for mass market paperbacks, as supply becomes restricted. |
