Using the RE-AIM implementation framework, the study found that tele-US, which enables remote expert guidance during point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) exams, was feasible and associated with shorter ED disposition times compared to comprehensive transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), with similar times to POCUS alone. Most tele-US usage was by advanced practice providers, primarily for cardiac assessments, and clinicians generally found image quality acceptable despite some technical challenges. Limitations include the small sample size, single-center design, and potential selection and response biases, suggesting further research is needed to evaluate patient outcomes and scalability.
