Sumario:The article focuses on the use of wrist-worn digital mobility sensors to assess frailty in middle-aged and older adults, demonstrating that such digital measures can predict hospitalization and mortality comparably to the established Fried frailty phenotype. It highlights the shift from traditional, clinic-based frailty assessments to continuous, scalable monitoring in daily life, emphasizing the trade-offs between biomechanical precision and feasibility. The integration of wearable-derived mobility data with electronic health records is proposed as a promising avenue to enhance clinical decision-making and enable population-level screening. While digital frailty assessment is not intended for individual-level prediction, it offers a practical approach to operationalize frailty and track vulnerability over time, potentially improving early detection and management in geriatric, neurologic, and orthopedic care.
