The project MEDITA – Medieval Latin Documentation and Digital Italo‐Romance Lexicography. Integrated Resources for the New Historical and Etymological Lexicography has contributed to this field by cataloguing lexical forms and recovering geographically localized attestations, shedding light on non‐literary Medieval Latin, particularly in material and everyday contexts. The analysis also examines how emerging vernacular lexemes adapted to Latin scripta, considering formulaic language, lexical class, semantic context and pragmatic factors. Special attention is given to the distinction between proper and common nouns and the diachronic evolution of key lexical items. By addressing these aspects, the study enhances our understanding of the early presence and integration of Romance vocabulary in medieval documentary sources. Riassunto: Questo studio indaga il potenziale lessicografico della documentazione latino‐medievale veneziana, evidenziando la necessità di un approccio sistematico per comprendere il divario tra lo sviluppo del latino e delle varietà vernacolari. Il progetto PRIN MEDITA (Medieval Latin Documentation and Digital Italo‐Romance Lexicography) (2022) ha contribuito a questo campo attraverso la catalogazione di forme lessicali e il recupero di attestazioni geograficamente localizzate, facendo luce sul latino medievale non letterario, in particolare nei contesti materiali e quotidiani. Considerando il linguaggio formulare, la classe lessicale, il contesto semantico e i fattori pragmatici, l'analisi esamina inoltre come i lessemi volgari emergenti si siano adattati alla scripta latina. Particolare attenzione è dedicata alla distinzione tra nomi propri e comuni e all'evoluzione di specifici elementi lessicali. Lo studio contribuisce così a una migliore comprensione della presenza e dell'integrazione del vocabolario romanzo nelle fonti documentarie medievali.
