| Sumario: | This article focuses on the design and opening of the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch of the Cleveland Public Library, envisioned by Brooklyn architecture studio SO–IL as an open civic platform centered around a large communal “table.” Located in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood, the library occupies the first two floors of a mixed-use residential tower and replaces the original branch nearby. The design emphasizes flexibility, community engagement, and durability, reflecting a shift from traditional book stacks to multifunctional spaces for cultural and educational activities. The project is part of broader revitalization efforts in the area and incorporates architectural elements that honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.
