| Sumario: | Introduction: In India, public health teaching is primarily imparted through an M. D. in Community Medicine that integrates the ability to analyze various factors of an individual and environmental processes and comprehend the influence of legal, political, and social aspects on health. This field is intricate and dynamic, requiring a thorough examination of the postgraduate curriculum to align with current contexts. Objectives: The study attempts to understand the perspective towards current teaching and training practices by the young fraternity of the discipline. Methods: An e mbedded mixed-methods study was conducted among Community Medicine residents and young faculty at Maulana Azad Medical College, India. Results: A total of 103 participants were enrolled in the quantitative part. Nearly, 75.7% felt it was the right decision to opt for community medicine, although only 48.5% were satisfied with their postgraduate training. In-depth interviews of 12 study subjects revealed the felt need of practical exposure and focus on training in newer topics. Conclusions: Our study provides information on the deficiencies in the teaching curriculum of community medicine that need focus for holistic training.
