Sumario:Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), characterized by the formation of blood clots in deep veins, is a frequent and potentially fatal condition, often associated with factors such as local vascular trauma, hypercoagulability, and compromised blood flow. The relevance of the topic is highlighted by the high associated morbidity and mortality, making it essential to investigate how nursing professionals can contribute to reducing the incidence of complications, such as pulmonary thromboembolism (PE). Given this, the present study aimed to identify nursing actions for the prevention of venous thromboembolism in hospitalized individuals. The study was developed through an integrative review, using electronic articles indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases. The selection of articles was based on the application of the following descriptors: Deep Vein Thrombosis; Intensive Care Unit; Critical Care; Nursing Care; Anticoagulant Agents. Studies published in Portuguese between 2018 and 2025, complete and free of charge, were included. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 11 articles were selected for analysis. The results revealed the importance of nursing in risk assessment, patient and family education, and anticoagulation monitoring. However, knowledge gaps and low adherence to preventive measures were identified. The main nursing actions identified involve non-pharmacological prophylaxis, such as risk assessment, the correct use of graduated compression stockings and intermittent pneumatic compression, and the stimulation of early mobilization, which act to reduce blood stasis and promote venous return. These interventions, when applied systematically and based on institutional protocols, are the direct responsibility of the nurse. In conclusion, the study reinforces that nursing actions are pillars for the prevention of DVT and its complications, highlighting the urgent need for continuing education programs and the implementation of protocols to ensure the effectiveness of care and reduce morbidity and mortality associated with venous thromboembolism.
