| Sumario: | The article focuses on the 2025 Biomedical Photography Contest organized by the journal Biomédica of the National Institute of Health of Colombia, which features a selection of 46 finalist photographs out of 68 participants in six categories: plant or animal macrophotography, microscopic photography, microphotography, electron microscopy, imaging, and environmental or historical. The images, captured by professionals and researchers from various institutions in Latin America and Spain, illustrate biological, medical, and environmental phenomena with an aesthetic and scientific approach, aiming to promote knowledge and appreciation of the natural and biomedical environment. Additionally, the proposal to create an image bank to facilitate access to relevant visual material in health and education is highlighted. The special issue includes detailed technical and scientific notes accompanying each photograph, reflecting the diversity and complexity of the topics addressed. El artículo se centra en el Concurso de Fotografía Biomédica 2025 organizado por la revista Biomédica del Instituto Nacional de Salud de Colombia, que presenta una selección de 46 fotografías finalistas entre 68 participantes en seis categorías: macrofotografía vegetal o animal, fotografía microscópica, microfotografía, microscopía electrónica, imagenología y medioambiente o históricas. Las imágenes, capturadas por profesionales e investigadores de diversas instituciones de América Latina y España, ilustran fenómenos biológicos, médicos y ambientales con un enfoque estético y científico, buscando fomentar el conocimiento y la valoración del entorno natural y biomédico. Además, se destaca la propuesta de crear un banco de imágenes para facilitar el acceso a material visual relevante en salud y educación. El número especial incluye anotaciones técnicas y científicas detalladas que acompañan cada fotografía, reflejando la diversidad y complejidad de los temas abordados. |
