These atrocities spawned international protests which were underscored by a variety of artistic and material cultural artefacts to bring awareness to this violence and demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people. As a result, the keffiyeh – which was knighted as a political accessory in the 1960s – has reemerged as a central garment of protest for demonstrators in the West [Renfro, E., 2018. As an inherently political medium, fashion has a long-standing track record as a vehicle of politico-cultural change. Building from the Ted Swedenburg's (1990.
