| Sumario: | This article focuses on factors influencing the redemption of digital gift card compensation among adolescent participants and their parents/guardians in a multicenter pediatric research study on mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). The study found that parental preferred language of Spanish and lack of health insurance were significantly associated with lower rates of gift card redemption, while race/ethnicity, age, sex, and area deprivation index were not. Clinical factors such as injury from motor vehicle collisions and presence of intracranial hemorrhage were linked to higher redemption rates, and redemption rates varied by study site. Despite bilingual support and translated materials, disparities in redemption suggest that barriers beyond language translation, potentially including digital health literacy, affect compensation access. The findings highlight the need for further research on equitable remuneration methods in clinical research participation.
