| Sumario: | The current crisis of plastic overaccumulation on a planetary scale reveals a toxic relationship with earth premised on the exploitation of natural resources. Drawing on Hannah Arendt's notion of amor mundi, this article argues that such a relationship reflects a profound lack of care and love for one's habitat. It examines two works of speculative fiction that engage with the plastic crisis, highlighting how their suggestion to speculate from conditions of absence can foster new ethics of care and modes of becoming. In doing so, the article proposes that the plastic crisis invites acts of radical imagination capable of transcending existing infrastructures and cultivating a spirit of hope and love for the planet. A wholehearted love of the world requires thinking through unknown and unknowable conditions while remaining committed to the well-being of one's habitat as a guiding principle. La crise actuelle de la suraccumulation de plastique à l'échelle planétaire révèle une relation toxique avec la Terre, fondée sur l'exploitation des ressources naturelles. S'appuyant sur la notion d'amor mundi d'Hannah Arendt, cet essai soutient qu'une telle relation refflète un profond manque de respect et d'amour pour son habitat. Il examine deux oeuvres deffiction spéculative abordant la crise du plastique, soulignant comment leur invitation à spéculer à partir de l'absence peut favoriser une nouvelle éthique du soin et de nouveaux modes de devenir. Ce faisant, l'essai propose que la crise du plastique appelle à des actes d'imagination radicale, capables de transcender les infrastructures existantes et de cultiver un esprit d'espoir et d'amour pour la planète. Un amour sincère du monde exige de penser à travers l'inconnu et l'inconnaissable, tout en restant attaché au bien-être de son habitat comme principe directeur. |
