Sumario:In this article, I take on Chakrabarty's rallying call for synchronized "planetary calendars of action," and argue that it is precisely by following a testimonial attitude that we may carve out space for doing so. Such an attitude is inspired by the ideas of French existential philosopher Gabriel Marcel, who has argued for the importance of testimony to solidify a responsible and committed existence. Since such a testimonial attitude implies responsibility combined with sensibility, this attitude is crucial when it addresses affective infrastructures in the face of climate change. In this article, I analyze the affect of love, extending and critiquing Arendt's amor mundi and Oliver's terraphilia. I conclude by discussing practices that entail love of, and in, soil.
