It highlights three key implications: environmental externalities from energy-intensive data centers and hardware supply chains; governance challenges due to distributed responsibility across academic, commercial, and infrastructure actors; and epistemic concerns regarding how AI influences knowledge production and potentially narrows research diversity. The article argues for a broadened ethical framework that addresses the sustainability, accountability, and inclusivity of AI research infrastructures to better align health research with planetary health goals.
