| Sumario: | The article focuses on the work and career of Paula López Wood, a Chilean communicator and writer, author of the short story anthology *Extinct Animals* (2019). Her work explores the relationship between human beings and the extreme territories of southern Chile, especially Patagonia and the Andes Mountain Range, combining genres such as travel writing and fiction to address themes like nature, trauma, and female voices. López Wood highlights the use of natural elements, especially water and ice, as narrative resources to express complex emotions and social wounds from a situated and sensitive perspective. She currently directs communications at the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and is working on new projects that continue to explore travel literature and survival in the far south of America. El artículo se centra en la obra y trayectoria de Paula López Wood, comunicadora y escritora chilena, autora de la antología de cuentos *Animales extintos* (2019). Su trabajo explora la relación entre los seres humanos y los territorios extremos del sur de Chile, especialmente la Patagonia y la Cordillera de los Andes, combinando géneros como la crónica de viajes y la ficción para abordar temas como la naturaleza, el trauma y las voces femeninas. López Wood destaca el uso de elementos naturales, especialmente el agua y el hielo, como recursos narrativos para expresar emociones complejas y heridas sociales desde una perspectiva situada y sensible. Actualmente, dirige comunicaciones en el Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino y trabaja en nuevos proyectos que continúan explorando la literatura de viaje y la supervivencia en el extremo sur de América. |
