| Sumario: | Ibn Mālik mentioned Sībawayh in Sharḥ al-Tashīl one hundred and twenty times, and in Sharḥ al-Kāfiyah one hundred times, and he agreed with him in eighty-one grammatical issues. These instances of agreement took different forms: some were implicit borrowings, in which Ibn Mālik would present his own view and then indicate that it was also the view of Sībawayh without quoting his words; the number of such cases reached thirty-six issues. In other cases, Ibn Mālik fully adopted the issue from Sībawayh and explicitly agreed with him, totaling thirty issues. In yet other cases, he cited only part of Sībawayh’s statement and agreed with that part, amounting to fifteen issues. These figures clearly indicate the extent of Ibn Mālik’s influence by Sībawayh. However, this influence did not render him a mere transmitter of Sībawayh’s views; rather, he appears as an analyst, a critic, and a facilitator of Sībawayh’s grammatical discussions, adapting them to the intellectual context of his own era. Accordingly, the significance of this study lies in uncovering Ibn Mālik’s methodology in borrowing from Sībawayh, and in determining whether his reliance on him was based on direct transmission or on interpretation, re-reading, and reconstruction. This contributes to a deeper understanding of Ibn Mālik’s grammatical thinking. The study also aims to clarify the impact of Sībawayh on Ibn Mālik in specific grammatical chapters, as the research problem stems from the absence of a specialized study that brings together the issues in which Ibn Mālik agreed with Sībawayh within a defined area of grammar, analyzes them, and derives their methodological implications. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach.
