      ab: Significance & Background: Gynecological (GYN) patients with locally advanced cervical cancer are often treated with interstitial brachytherapy, a radiation treatment targeting residual tumors. During this procedure, it is possible for the patient to develop unexpected bleeding leading to hemodynamic instability. As there was not a formal process to direct the team of their roles during an emergency bleeding event, an organized algorithm was created to improve patient safety. Purpose: The aim of this project is to improve the safety of the patient by: * Creating an algorithm with a proper protocol in the event of an emergency bleed during a brachytherapy procedure. * Ensuring that all team members have specific roles and responsibilities assigned and are trained in the event of a bleed. Interventions: Follow Emergency algorithm with assigned duties. Results: The post survey that was given after the mock scenario indicated that there was an increase in staff comfort levels in the event of an emergency bleed during the brachytherapy procedure. Discussion: Based on the post survey results, the mock scenario was found to be beneficial through the increased comfort levels and will be conducted biannually. Through collaboration between providers, nurses, and radiation therapists, the GYN brachytherapy team will continue to improve upon patient safety in the event of an emergency bleed.
