| Sumario: | Significance & Background: In an outpatient oncology setting, nursing teams face increasing demands to improve quality, patient safety, satisfaction, and efficiency while maintaining patient centered care. However, real time data and manual processes often hinder timely interventions and performance improvement initiatives. Purpose: Current processes include pulling multiple data reports from the electronic health record, manipulating and correlating data manually in the hopes of extracting meaningful information. Ultimately this data is reported out to senior leaders to ensure expectations of performance are met. Creation of an EHR dashboard tool for ambulatory care nursing was instituted to leverage real time data correlated with nursing practice in the clinic setting. This data is then compared to our Press Ganey results comparing our practice to patient satisfaction reports. Interventions: Key nursing quality indicators were identified including fall risk, extravasation risk, malnutrition risk, and documentation compliance. Data was integrated from the electronic health record and reported in an interactive online nursing dashboard, accessible to nursing leadership, and able to provide information on nursing specific quality metrics, without the tedious manual pull. Monthly reviews of the metrics were shared during our staff meetings, and a quality board highlighting these metrics was positioned in the outpatient department and updated monthly for staff visibility. Results: The dashboard has been extremely impactful to the efficiency of the nursing leaders' work and has provided full transparency with the nursing staff in their performance. The manual calculation of above stated risk, unit quality boards, and monthly review of quality metrics, enabled proactive identification in gaps of care and helped to define the creation of the nursing dashboard. The automation of this data into an online dashboard decreased turnaround time and helped us to align daily practice with organizational quality goals. Discussion: A rigorous ambulatory care dashboard has been instrumental in engaging staff. They are able to see the impact of their actions on patient safety and satisfaction in the decrease in risk events and the increase in Press Ganey scores. Next steps include continuing to look at the data available and what future additions would be useful to enhance the dashboard.
