ab: Aging in place enables older adults to live safely and independently in their homes or a familiar environment for extended periods of time, regardless of age, income, or ability. Independence is a key factor in evaluating quality of life and the effectiveness of aging models. This study aims to conduct an evolutionary concept analysis of "independence of older adults aging in place" to enhance aging care services, guide personalized care planning, and improve older adults' quality of life. The concept's attributes were identified as multidimensionality, dynamicity, and subjectivity. Conceptual antecedents consist of individual factors, home, autonomy, residential environment, accessible resources, and social participation. The consequences are categorized into two themes: the significance of accurately evaluating independence and the impact of decreased independence. Aging service practitioners' understanding of independence can help create tailored care plans to support older adults at risk of losing independence while aging in place. Policymakers should incorporate the attributes, antecedents, and consequences of independence for older adults aging in place into the design and optimization of policies, providing robust support to promote independence.
