| Sumario: | This article reports that publishers and trade associations in Great Britain are up in arms over the "disregard" for freedom of speech in Turkey, where writer Orhan Pamuk is currently being tried for his insults to "Turkishness." Pamuk is on trial for comments made in a Swiss newspaper in February this year, when he said that 30,000 Kurds and a million Armenians were killed in these lands and nobody but me dares to talk about it. The code was revised in June as part of a process aimed at removing human rights anomalies from Turkish law, in order that Turkey might be accepted into the European Union.
