| Sumario: | The current study examined the relationships between dimensions of difficulties in emotion regulation (DER) and symptoms of problematic TikTok use (PTU) to identify key cross-construct influences and their directionality over time. Repeated measures of DER and PTU were administered to a sample of TikTok users over a 2-month period. Data from a total of 715 participants (Mean = 27.92, SD = 6.01; 65.2% females) were used in the analysis. Cross-lagged panel network analysis revealed that difficulties in impulse control and goal-directed behavior were the most influential factors exerting cross-construct effects. Bidirectional relationships, particularly between goal-directed behavior difficulties and task interference from TikTok use, were also observed. The current findings refine our understanding of how DER and PTU relate over time, which could inform the development of more precise intervention strategies to effectively reduce problematic use.
