| Sumario: | The article presents information on metal-organic frameworks with exceptionally high capacity for storage of carbon dioxide at room temperature. Metal-organic frameworks (MOF) represent a class of porous materials that offer these advantages for carbon dioxide storage: ordered structures, high thermal stability, adjustable chemical functionality, and extra-high porosity. Nine compounds were selected in order to examine a range of structural and porous attributes. Remarkably, at 35 bar, a container filled with MOF-177 can capture 9 times the amount of carbon dioxide in a container without adsorbent, and about 2 times the amount when filled with benchmark materials. |
