Key priorities for future research include developing objective early detection methods such as sub-epidermal moisture (SEM) assessment and artificial intelligence, investigating pain as an early indicator, enhancing implementation science to improve evidence-based practice, and ensuring patient involvement and equity across diverse populations. Additionally, digital innovations and even space medicine are identified as emerging areas with potential to advance PU prevention and management.
