| Sumario: | The article focuses on cyberbrides in the Americas and the transnational routes of U.S. masculinity. The design of a Latin Ameican woman from outside the U.S. speaks to the power of erotic imagination and the role of technology in transporting one's personal fantasies into a transnational social forum. The self-help model of individual transformations hijacks the feminist model of consciousness-raising, evacuating its radical potential through personalizing social transformation, and makes evident self-help's genealogical roots within Christianity and Western individualism. |
