| Sumario: | This article centers on the concept of "Afropean," a neologism that merges African and European identities to challenge traditional, exclusionary notions of Europeanness and Blackness. It explores Afropean identity through feminist perspectives, emphasizing the intersectionality of race, gender, class, and citizenship within Black European experiences. The special issue highlights creative works, interviews, and scholarly reflections that address Black European subjectivity, cultural production, and the complexities of belonging beyond national and racial binaries. It advocates for expanding Black studies and German studies to include diverse Afropean voices, aiming to envision transformative futures that disrupt racialized and linear conceptions of identity and history in Europe.
