In addressing this question, it critically engages with environmental philosophers, especially John Baird Callicott and Holmes Rolston III, on topics related to the ontology of value. This article develops an independent biblical value theory in dialogue with contemporary environmental philosophy. Employing ecotheological hermeneutics, the article analyzes a range of biblical excerpts to discern a coherent biblical value theory in relation to counterpart secular value theories of anthropocentrism and ecocentrism.
