Sumario:Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into mental health treatment and its potential for training the next generation of social workers remains underexplored. This conceptual article explores how AI can enhance the preparation of social work students and early career clinicians for leading group therapy and group practice, addressing the complex interpersonal and ethical challenges involved in group work. Given the emerging workforce's need to understand the ethical implementation of technology, adaptability, cultural competence, and nuanced decision-making, AI tools offer promising avenues for skill development. Artificial-intelligence-powered simulated role plays, feedback-driven coaching, and real-time facilitation support provide low-risk and scalable training experiences for aspiring group leaders. Drawing from frameworks in social work education and AI-assisted learning, this article outlines a model for integrating AI into group therapy training. This discussion highlights both opportunities and limitations, emphasizing human oversight, maintaining ethical safeguards, and promoting skill building. This article contributes to ongoing conversations about harnessing technology for the social good, a social work grand challenge, and preparing social workers for the demands of group practice.
