Steinbock, and Bernhard Waldenfels. Its aim is to show that suffering not only disrupts the familiarity of the lifeworld (Lebenswelt), but also co-constitutes its normative dimension by revealing the tension between the familiar and the alien. First, the article analyzes Geniusas’s account of pain as a bodily and affective experience that gives rise to a sense of homelessness. Second, drawing on Steinbock, it examines how suffering exposes and transforms the normative background that ultimately sustains the familiarity of the world. Finally, through Waldenfels, pain is approached as a pathic excess that befalls us and calls for a response. The article concludes that pain is a liminal experience that constitutes the lifeworld and articulates affective passivity and normativity. Este artículo examina la experiencia del dolor y el sufrimiento desde una perspectiva fenomenológica, articulando los aportes de Saulius Geniusas, Anthony J. Steinbock y Bernhard Waldenfels. Su objetivo es mostrar que el sufrimiento no solo interrumpe la familiaridad del mundo de la vida (Lebenswelt), sino que co-constituye su dimensión normativa al revelar la tensión entre lo familiar y lo ajeno. En primer lugar, se analiza la propuesta de Geniusas sobre el dolor como experiencia corporal y afectiva que despliega una vivencia de falta de hogar. En segundo lugar, a partir de Steinbock, se examina cómo el sufrimiento revela y transforma las normas que sostienen la familiaridad del mundo. Finalmente, con Waldenfels, se aborda el dolor como exceso que nos acontece y exige una respuesta.
