| Sumario: | This study examines the translation of English conjunction 'AND 'and Arabic conjunction "WA" with a focus on their functions, difficulty of translation, and translators' strategies used. English 'AND' and Arabic "WA" are elementary connectives that assist in ensuring cohesion in discourse, yet usage and meaning may considerably vary depending on context, cultural variations, and stylistic conventions. The study examines the semantic and lexical roles of these connectives in both languages and their polysemy and the reasons behind which they pose difficulties for translators when they translate them from Arabic to English and vice versa. In a close reading of translated texts, the study observes common translation methods, such as literal translation, paraphrase, and restructuring, and analyzes their effectiveness in preserving sense, coherence, and rhetorical effect in the target language TL.
