We argued that religious identity predicts psychological well-being, mediated by Filipino spirituality. A cross-sectional quantitative design with a total of 1,020 participants from Luzon completed the study. Findings revealed that religious identity moderately predicts psychological well-being. Also, Filipino spirituality component on relationship with others obtained a positive indirect effect in the mediation. This attests that religious identification leads to establish a positive interpersonal relationship that positively contributes to psychological well-being. Otherwise, Filipino spirituality's connection to God component has revealed negative indirect effects on psychological well-being. Future research may expand the social cure framework to understand the mechanisms of religion and spirituality to mental health in more diverse communities. In terms of practical implications, spiritual and religious interventions could be used to develop positive behaviour such as mutual support and prosocial behaviour. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: N holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
