Recent events that have taken place in these countries shed light on women's role in society and beyond. However, it's important to note that these movements started decades ago and only gained momentum on a global scale once the rise of the internet and social media gained international presence. This article explores culture, gender norms, and access to social media platforms by women, and indicates that access to these digital tools empowered women to connect on a global level and challenge social norms in a predominantly misogynist society.
