ab: Yoga has emerged as a globally embraced approach to holistic health. Despite its growing integration into healthcare systems, there remains a need to systematically analyze the evolution of yoga-related scientific literature. This study aimed to map the bibliometric characteristics and thematic evolution of yoga research published in peer-reviewed journals from 2005 to 2024. We conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of yoga-related publications indexed in PubMed using the search term "yoga[tiab]" from January 2005 to December 2024. Data were analyzed using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer software to examine publication trends, authorship patterns, geographical distribution, institutional contributions, and thematic evolution. The analysis included 7160 documents published across 1730 sources with an annual growth rate of 14.57%. There was a steady upward trend from 2005 to 2024, with a sharp increase observed after 2010. The United States led in publication output, followed by India, China, and Australia. International Journal of Yoga and Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine account for the highest number of articles. Research clusters focused primarily on psychological applications (meditation, mindfulness), quality of life improvements, and clinical applications. Yoga research has grown rapidly with expanding global collaboration and thematic diversity. Publication volume continues to rise, but the proportion of clinical trials is steadily declining. The field is dominated by core journals and major institutions in the USA and India. Emerging trends now focus strongly on mental health, quality of life, mindfulness, and COVID-19–related themes. Future research should prioritize rigorously designed trials following standardized reporting guidelines like Checklist for the Reporting of Interventions in Yoga Research (CLARIFY) to improve comparability and evidence quality. • Yoga-related publications grew by 14.57% annually, surging after 2010 to 7160 documents across 1730 sources (2005–2024). • Clinical trials increased in number, but their share of total publications declined by ∼5% annually. • The United States led publication output, while AIIMS dominated organizational contributions. • Yoga research shifted toward psychological well-being, quality of life, and clinical applications.
