Sumario:Respiratory diseases are among the most common health problems worldwide, affecting millions of people and causing significant illness and death each year. Conditions such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, and other breathing disorders can make everyday activities difficult and often require long-term care. Although modern medical treatments have greatly improved the management of these conditions, many respiratory illnesses remain chronic or tend to recur, affecting patients' overall well-being, daily functioning, and quality of life. As a result, respiratory disorders continue to pose a major challenge for individuals, families, and healthcare systems across the globe. Homoeopathy follows an individualized approach to treatment, focusing on the unique symptoms and overall health of each patient rather than treating a disease alone. Within its extensive materia medica, several Indian homoeopathic medicines have traditionally been used for respiratory complaints and have shown particular affinity for conditions affecting the lungs and airways. However, many of these remedies remain relatively less used in clinical practice. This article highlights selected indigenous medicines--Acalypha indica, Blumea odorata, Ficus religiosa, Azadirachta indica, Hydrocotyle asiatica, Solanum xanthocarpum, Justicia adhatoda, Ocimum sanctum, and Blatta orientalis--and discusses their key indications in respiratory disorders. By revisiting these valuable remedies, practitioners may discover additional therapeutic options and gain a deeper appreciation of the rich contribution of indigenous medicines to homoeopathic respiratory care.
