| Sumario: | In this co-authored article, the authors introduce ARIA (Augmented Reality in Immersive Accessibility), a groundbreaking digital translation tool developed by Talk Is Free Theatre (TIFT) in Barrie, Ontario, to address linguistic barriers in live performance. By combining augmented reality glasses with real-time AI transcription and translation software, ARIA enables personalized subtitles to appear directly in the viewer's field of vision. It has been tested in both scripted and immersive performances and is being further developed to support unscripted work and multiple simultaneous translations. ARIA reflects a commitment to expanding access, inclusion, and artistic possibility in theatre—not by replacing existing practices but by complementing them with flexible, responsive technology.
