| Sumario: | In this article, I outline a post‐anthropocentric systems theory adequate to the 'next society'. Following Dirk Baecker's lead, I propose that next society will follow an organisational pattern of networked autopoiesis. Under the next society paradigm, society finally achieves autonomy from human agency and governance, eliminating the human monopoly on meaningful communication. This evolutionary development necessitates novel ways of handling contingency, including unintended consequences generated by the triple interpenetration of humans, function systems and the communicative operations of computer networks. |
