| Sumario: | The article presents an experimental study for determining the effect of a selected procedure for teaching the scientific attitudes to Seventh and Eighth Grade students by using the current events in science. According to one of the scientists, there are as many number of scientific methods of behavior, as there are problems. Field trips and the inductive-deductive approach are two effective methods. The students belong to a New York City junior high school. The subjects involving eighth graders designated the major experiments and that involving seventh graders designated the concurrent experiment. The audio-visual aids were also applied for providing a multi-sensory appeal. The test-retest method was also employed. The "matched-group" technique was employed and it was hypothesized that there is no difference between groups and that any difference found is due to sampling errors based on chance. The study is based on the null hypothesis that holds that there is no true difference between groups within an experiment. A majority of the pupils in the experimental groups of both the seventh and eighth grades said they were in favor of the procedure developed in the study. |
