Sumario:The article discusses the life of Willa Cather, who became one of the most powerful women in American publishing. It provides details of Cather's upbringing in Virginia and the family's move to the Great Plains of Nebraska. Details of her high school and college years are given. Details of her first job working for a women's magazine, "The Home Monthly" are provided as well as her work as an editor for "McClure's," one of the top muckraking and fiction magazines of the time. Her literary life is presented including her novels "O Pioneers!," "My Antonia," and "The Song of the Lark." The author reports that little personal information has been revealed about Cather since she burnt all of her letters and requested friends to do the same.
