ab: The article reports that HarperCollins Publishers Inc. CEO Victoria Barnsley is reporting a 10% increase in market share over the final quarter of 2005, when she says rivals Hachette, Random House Group and Macmillan lost ground. Barnsley's statement comes as HarperCollins Worldwide (HC) reports "record" results for the quarter to December 31, 2005, with operating income up 24% to $77m. HC does not break out figures for Great Britain, but said it had seen "excellent" growth in both revenue and profit across the quarter here. Book publishing sales for the News Corp division as a whole grew to $390m in the fourth quarter of 2005, compared with $377m the year before.
