| Sumario: | All scientific observations are based on discerning a difference in characteristics between the object we look for and the background the object finds itself in. The senses are the differentiating tools that we use to see the distinction in name and form. Science extends our senses and presents data which is minute and inaccessible to the senses while still measuring the distinctions in name and form. Unitary experience, however, goes beyond the externals of name and form. Thus, true spirituality looks for a unity with respect to each other and with every object in the environment. Four verses are taken from the scripture of India, the Bhagavad-Gita and the basis of unitary experience and the results of such an experience are discussed. Unity in diversity is the phrase used by many spiritual leaders of India to bring home the concept of one underlying Reality that takes many forms and manifestations. It is perhaps necessary to understand the musings of many ancient writings before we can postulate a model for Consciousness and then, methods for experiencing that state of oneness. This could lead us towards lasting peace that we so desperately search for.
