| Sumario: | This article presents the author's opinion on the royalty system prevailing in the book publishing industry of Great Britain. He feels that the royalty system of the industry should be reformed. The literary agents of the industry refuse to accept that an author's earnings should be calculated as a proportion of the income received by the publisher. Instead, the industry is lumbered with an arcane system whereby the author's royalty is linked to a notional figure, the recommended retail price, which has little to do with either the actual selling price or the publisher's receipts.
