| Sumario: | The article presents a speech by Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) governor Hamad al-Sayyari, delivered at the Building the Future conference in Riyadh on May 9, 2006. He outlined the challenges and opportunities in the Saudi banking sector. SAMA, in co-operation with the banks, is upgrading and streamlining Saudi payments network to increase the number of automated teller machines and point-of-sale networks and expand their capabilities. SAMA is also upgrading the check clearing system to carry out transactions electronically and in real time. |
