Sumario:This article discusses an attempt by scientists to detect gravitational waves, ripples in the fabric of space-time. In June, 2006 scientists met to discuss plans for a more sensitive detector, a device called an interferometer, that could be built in space. Gravitational waves were predicted by Einstein's general theory of relativity. This theory views gravity not as a force but as a consequence of the curved geometry of space and time.
