Sumario:This article focuses on the use of the study of industrial processes in a course in general science by the students in the junior high schools of Newark, Ohio. The new orientation in the field of secondary education requires that the educator study the students in terms of his evolvements with the culture in which he grows. In an industrial community, where most of the students are planning on going into industrial work, a major part of the school program should be to provide worthwhile experiences of an industrial nature. The article focuses on various industries or plants concerned with different industrial processes. It describes certain curriculum revisions with particular emphasis upon the use of industrial processes for a general science course. The experiences involved in carrying out an industrial process in the school science laboratory increase the understandings of the students about various industries and industrial processes. Some of the industrial processes carried out by the students are: Air conditioning, bleaching, constructing an electromagnet, electroplating, filtration and refraction of light.
