      ab: The article focuses on the effectiveness of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in treating depression. The advantages of TMS over electroconvulsive therapy and vagus nerve stimulation include its being noninvasive, more focused and directed and does not require anesthesia. Based on a clinical trial, patients receiving TMS showed improvement in the Hamilton Scale compared to those receiving placebo treatment. The common side effects of TMS are headache and scalp discomfort.
