      ab: The article reports on the plan of IBM to build the Roadrunner supercomputer, which is capable of performing one petaflops or one million gigaflops. The plan is made after the awarding by the U.S. Department of Energy to IBM of a contract to build the supercomputer. The supercomputer will be built using 16,000 AMD Opteron server processors and 16,000 IBM high-performance Cell processors. It will also use a high-speed, serial, switched-fabric technology called InfiniBand, for communications between the Opteron processors.
