| Sumario: | This article considers the needs for economic development and technology skills on American Indian reservations. Access to information technology is distributed on economic lines in the United States, with Native Americans ranking as the most economically disadvantaged group in the country. Data on technology diffusion in tribal lands is not readily available, making it difficult to tailor public policy around the problem. Tribes need tribal leaders to foster an increase in the number of Indian information technology professionals through higher education and other training. Indians should work with other minority groups to help raise technological access for all. Leaders must define specific needs by tribe. |
