Sumario:The article discusses the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science conference for July 28-August 4, 2007. The topic is the concept of emergence in the context of the human, covering the human capacities for cognition, emotion, language, culture, art, and religion. Emergent properties arise out of relationships, such as neuronal signaling patterns that create mental experience or interpersonal connections that generate communal identity. The focus is on the peculiarities of human mental evolution.
