ab: The article presents research which assessed the visual skill and performance of employees working at the casings inspection department of meat packing plant Oscar Mayer and Co. The research used the Bausch and Lomb Ortho-Rater method to measure visual efficiency of employees in the department. However, the study failed to find significant correlation between Ortho-Rater scores and efficiency, as determined by foremen's ratings. In this regard, the authors concluded that the method is inefficient in evaluating the department.
