| Sumario: | The article provides a comparison of the relative effectiveness of a pursuit and a compensatory tracking display system in a simulated one-coordinate aircraft control loop. According to the authors, the task of subjects in pursuit tracking is to position a control marker to coincide with a moving course marker. Meanwhile, the subjects in compensatory tracking attempts to keep a moving marker aligned with a stationary reference point. To determine their effectiveness, the authors stated that they conducted two experiments, differing only in the ranges of the course frequencies comprising the tracking problem. One of the results they obtained was that, with the slowest course, there was no significant difference in error scores between compensatory and pursuit tracking.
