| Sumario: | This paper explores the way librarians are adapting the principles and practices of the profession to the emerging information environment of the 21st Century through an examination of the activities of librarians nominated by their peers for the 21st-Century Librarian award, given by the Syracuse University School of Information Studies from 2000-2004. Taken collectively, the activities of these librarians provide a snapshot of the directions of the profession in the early 21st century. The paper concludes with an analysis of the continuities and discontinuities between these activities and the work of the profession before the Internet. |
